Sometimes the best photo locations feel like they are straight out of a storybook, and that is exactly how Joe and Baileys couples session felt. While I was traveling from Utah to Pennsylvania for a friend’s wedding, I had the chance to photograph this sweet couple in one of the most unique little places ive ever seen: Stoudtburg Villiage.
Tucked away in Northern Lancaster County, this charming german-inspired village feels like a tiny piece of Europe hidden in the countryside. With it’s colorful buildings, cobblestone-style streets, flower boxes, and cosy architecture, every corner felt like the perfect backdrop for a romantic stroll. As I was researching locations, I knew this was the one we needed to choose!
Here’s the cutest story about how these two met:
“We met doing a show! He was in the band as the bass player, and I was playing a character that was pretty much Dolly Parton in our show “Honky Tonk Angels.” This was in Pennsylvania, where Joe is from.
He was shy throughout the process. I remember I was performing a song on roller skates (long story) and fell due to an uneven stage deck. I was icing my knee in the green room, talking to my dad on the phone, and the first words he said to me were “I’m sorry that happened, and I hope you feel better.” Very sweet, never inserting himself unless he knew he was wanted.
Finally, our Music Director Darren told Joe he should ask me out the last week of our run. He sent me a message saying something like “It’s been a pleasure having you as an ‘Angel’ this summer.” I invited him to a group gathering a Laurel Lake in PA, and he brought fresh strawberries from a farm stand and we talked on the beach. I was hooked from there, I think.”
